Charlotte heard the wheels of the snack trolley and perked up.
"Nothing a Pumpkin Pasty won't fix."

"Oh, Charlotte-," she started out, but the next thing she knew, Charlie was already on her way to get a Pumpkin Pasty. Rose giggled, anything involving food would cheer Charlie up, she walked over to the trolley and grabbed a few Chocolate Frogs.

Sitting back down, Charlotte unwrapped a Pumpkin Pasty and took a giant bite.
"'S goo."
Rose looked puzzled for a moment, then realization dawned. "Oh! It's GOOD. Okay. Geez, take smaller bites."
"Bub I lie em."
"Yes, I know. But you're going to choke."
Right on cue, Charlotte started to cough, and swallowed the rest of the bite of pasty with difficulty. "Ow."
"Told you." Rose grinned, opening up a Chocolate Frog, and looked at the card.
"Artemisia Lufkin again. I mean, I'm all for girl power, but I have 12 of her."
Just then Hugo popped his head in the compartment door.
"Did you hear? A first year got sick in one the compartment, there's vomit EVERYWH-...HEY!"
Rose had thrown a Chocolate Frog at his head.
"What makes you think we want to hear about that?"

"God, sassy," he said, rubbing his head a bit. "But it's really cool! She started gagging at first, then it started dribbling out of her mouth, and it landed on someone's eye-" "Oh, for GOD'S SAKE, Hugo! We're eating!" she yelled, getting prepared to throw another frog at his head. "Get out!"
Hugo ran out of the room. But he came back a second later to grab the Chocolate Frog that was on the floor, then he ran out again. Rose rolled her eyes.
"Do you see what I had to deal with all summer?" she said to Charlotte, rolling her eyes.

But Charlotte was looking slightly green.
"Did he have to DESCRIBE it?"
She looked down at the rest of her pasty with distaste.
"I think I've lost my appetite at the moment."

"Charlotte, are you all right?" she asked, Charlie looked as if she was about to pass out. She threw the pasty away and sat down beside her, she suddenly lost her appetite too. d**n, that Hugo...

She closed her eyes for a moment and groaned.
"Ick. Okay, I'm fine. All better."
She sat up.
"So."
"....So?"
"Rosie! Spill."
"About WHAT?"
"About you and SCORPIUS, obviously. He so clearly has liked you forEVER."

"What?" she yelled, jumping off the bench. She turned a bright red.
"Me, and Scorpius?" she asked again, trying to make a fake laugh. "That's funny, really, really funny, Charlotte."
"He SO doesn't like me, he can't. He's a Slytherin, I'm a Gryffindor, that doesn't make a good mix, Charlie. We're two complete opposites, you see the way he makes fun of my red hair, there's no WAY he likes me."
Surprised that she had exploded so suddenly, she thought to herself, did Scorpius really like her? No, no way, he couldn't have. And besides, even if there was a SMALL chance that he liked her, she didn't like him at all. He was a slimy, Slytherin git, he wasn't her type. At all. Never. Nothing.

Charlotte grinned and looked down at her hands.
Brushing the hair out of her eyes, she looked directly at Rose.
"If you and he are so incompatible, why do you act so similar? And if you don't like him... why are you so upset?"

"I-," she started out. "I'm not upset," she finished stubbornly, folding her arms on her chest, trying to calm down, although Charlotte could see right through her. "And what do you mean we act similar?"

Snickering at Rose's reaction, Charlotte went on.
"Well, let's see. You're both stubborn, both actually quite funny, you are ALWAYS mean to each other... but never REAL mean, and neither of you can seem to help staring at each other when the other isn't looking. It's obvious, Rosie."

"What? I don't stare at him-," Rose began, but then realized that...maybe she DID stare at him a little, well, sometimes. But not a lot, right? And they were definitely mean to each other, she didn't think there was a time when they even smiled to each other. Except when he did that annoying little laugh of his whenever she flew into a temper, he would probably be doing that little laugh of his right now, if he was here. Okay, so, maybe Charlotte had a point. Maybe....she did have slight feelings for Scorpius, maybe she did think that his little laugh was cute, but he couldn't have any feelings for her, she's a blood-traitor, she's a WEASLEY, for heaven's sake. They wouldn't go together, it wouldn't be right. "Charlotte," she said quietly, sitting down on the bench again. "He....he CAN'T like me, I'm a blood-traitor, it's obvious that he hates me," she kept saying, hoping to hammer that thought into her head so that it seemed true. Scorpius can't like me, Scorpius can't like me...

"He might be a prat, but I don't think he's quite as prejudiced as his relatives. Even if he pretends to be. Think about it. Has he ever actually CALLED you a blood traitor? Or me a mudblood, for that matter? No. And I don't think there's been one time he has insulted you without there being at least a few of his fellow Slytherins around. When they aren't, he not only doesn't insult you, he can barely keep his eyes off you. You don't know, I see him. There's something there, Rosie. Whether you believe so or not."

Rose had no response to this claim. Charlotte had a point, Scorpius had never actually insulted her badly, did he really stare at her in class? No wonder she always has this strange feeling in her stomach every time his name is mentioned, she was blushing right now, yes, even though she would not admit it out loud, she had realized that...maybe, she liked Scorpius, and maybe he liked her back. Maybe. "Do....you really think so, Charlotte?" she asked, trying to hide the small smile that was spreading across her face. Before Charlie could answer, she heard the compartment door slide open, if it was Hugo, she was prepared to throw a million frogs at him before he could open his mouth and ruin the moment.
